The Almost-Final Numbers

Okay, dudes and dudesses, it’s time for the final stats report of 1977 (barring any final ones after the World Series that I can get motivated to post.)  The Carew Watch is hot and heavy, with Rodney a fly’s hairlip below .400.  Foster’s overall numbers are still nuclear, but his power production has dropped considerably at the worst time of the year, along with his MVP chances.  And the Candy Man continues to lead the world in pitching.

But can you guess the major league leader in hits?  How about Garry Templeton at 240, with nine games left to catch Ichiro’s 262—retroactively of course.
